you should check the wiring to your distributor. i have 2 ECUs, 4 igniters, and 2 distributors, but its always the wiring.

Thanks all. How about using exhauset hanger mounts as cushions?

How do I get the rear engine mount out? The one against the suspension cradle, at the prop-shaft tunnel.

Unbolt it.. Good place to start. 2 on the trans, 1 thru the suspension cross member.
I believe you can then unbolt the 2 bolts for the "lower engine" mount that go thru the longitudinal cross member then jack up the trans and take it out.
Otherwise if that doesn't work you'll have to unbolt the suspension cross member.

and pull the "dogbone" upper motor mount as well. That allows you to rock the motor for aft to help get it out.
Should be doable without an engine hoist, just a jack.

Well.... Um... Today I got it running again. Though, I can hear an intermittent ticking and kind of scratching sound that seem to come from the crankcase cover. Just to start in the "easy corner", I excluded valve clearance as a probable cause. I have now worked my way into the cam belt cover and it's not a defective tensioner either. This leaves me to believe that it's either the water pump impeller bolt that have unscrewed, or (if god or whatever really hates me), it's the balancer shaft chain guide that is either faulty installed or defective, despite that it was brand new. Unfortunetly, I have no video to help describing the sound/problem. Ideas? Cause I really don't want to tear my way into the crankcase cover just to find that everything is OK... Also, this is wearing down on my mental health as well...

Echo... echo... echo... Is this board empty, or is everyone just out for summer drinking beer in the yard? I'm about to change the pickup in the distributor, but I can't get the reluctor off from the shaft. Any ideas?

I'm about to change the pickup in the distributor, but I can't get the reluctor off from the shaft. Any ideas? Two standard screwdrivers under either side, pry up simultaneously. If you are coordinated enough you might put some small chunks of wood or something under the fulcrum to protect the housing.

Managed to change the sensor today (pics in dedicated thread later).
Started right up with no real problems. Ran it hot and set the timing.
Still getting a CEL though.
Gonna take it to the annual, mandatory vehicle inspection some day this week to get it cleared, then I'll probably put it out for sale.
Yes, yes. I know it seems like blasphemy since I've put down so many hours and money on it, but there is better Justy's out there and I have to think about my wallet, too... :/

Reading all these posts at once was like reading a tragic saga...
