It is the vent tube for the transmission. It needs to be pointing "up" somewhere near the battery.

LOL Daaaaaamn.......oh man.. .. oh no LOL open the drivers side door and remove the lock from the inside. or you can shove a cellphone camera in there and take a picture of the "code" a 5 digit number. take that number to a good lock smith and get a "code key" cut. this will be a master key for your car. dont pay more than 35 for the first and 5 a copy after that.

Another post said the numbers are on the back of the cylinder. ..of his 90. I have no codes on the back of the cylinder, so I think I'm gonna yank that cylinder out and take it in for my 20$ set if keys. Any objections?

i was able to see mine when i looked into the area with the door panel off. however i dont recall where it specifically was. i know it was either on the cylinder or on the arm. i was able to see it so maybe try moving the lock to different positions. i just jammed my phone in there and hit the picture button like 10 times and got a picture of it.
the lock itself is prety easy to remove from the dor if you need to. its only held in by this weird litte clip thats kind of like whats used to hold a brake line to a mount. that little U shaped clip thats bent.
and yah its supposed to be in the glovebox on SOME cars. but not a 30 year old car. its fallen off by now for sure.

they use whats called a "powell" the look like cylinderical arrow heads. remove the door handle plastic, remove the arm rest, pup the plugs around the edge of the panel, then pull slightly away from the door and then push it upwards. the top edge wraps over the door edge metal at the window so it goes up, then off.
