Hey there, so I have a run-down of how my car came to rest on the highway last week in the intro boards; today I am taking the "new" alternator to test it. However....yesterday with my son and buddy of mine, we opened up the air filter whatnot and discovered a small amount of fuel pooled up in the...bowl? Haha but by small, I mean around 3 or 4 tablespoons...mixed with blackness...almost like the shittiest oil we have ever seen that came out the damn car...
So anyways, I'm NOW wondering if the car has something to do with it at least randomly passing out on the highway. Can while the electric be ok, the vehicle not crank over if the carb is jacked up? I feel it would be an explainable "yes, with the "explainable" as what I want hehe.

So it WAS fuel, but NOW it seems to be the carb. *dammit...it's been two weeks now and I haven't even driven it here yet

Finally running.....so there was actually a legit half a tank of fuel, sooo....now it's trying to figure out why it whimpered out on the road...i did just put on a new alternator belt? So that might have a lot, or a little...but no bother...she's good now lol

And she's dead again. ...again at half-tank, again while the dim-ass headlights were running.....wtf is going on???

didnt read your original thread.
had an issue where the car would die, not start and randomly start. turned out to be the two leads inside the distributor were loose. i pulled them, cleaned and kinda crimped them back onto the terminals. never had the problem again. been 8 years

Well, I realized the rear fog light (just one) has a connection that is becoming....not a connection at all. Instant disconnection as of today, when I took the brand-new battery, as well as the battery that came with it, are at the parts store charging.....i want to check the distributor, but I suppose I shall wait until the morning.......

Ahhhh, this will be helpful when I get back from Alaska (pure justy country).......
So a slight update.....the brand new bimart battery has been farcleed with so much it can't seen to hold its charge for very long....so the other day, she died out so I finally hooked up original battery.........
I go from dying at blow rpms(*disconnects fog lights wired directly to the battery), tooooo the damn thing draining while driving, but parked after picking up milk (*installed new clamps), tooooo. .....now that the original battery is back in, she has not died yet. The overnight death hasn't had a chance to happen yet, because she's already dead when she hits the driveway...
HOWEVER.........the clamp and battery were hooked up approximately 4 days ago, and she has NOT DIED YET. I purposefully crank her over each morning to test, and....she is still going. Now that I'm in alaska for the next 9 days, I left her hooked up and so when I get back I'll crank her up, if she does she does, but....I'll do the fuses, they might not be totally new but they are all good

So I'm here in alaska and my partners lil brother (19) suggests the alternator, while good, is not strong enough to handle the slightly bigger bimart battery........

have you installed a voltage qauge?
your story is so messy i can't understand what you are trying say.
battery size has nothing to do alternator output or required output. Think of the battery as a sink. the running car electrical system as a hole in the sink and the alternator as the faucet. you can have a huge sink, big hole and a tiny faucet and it will slowly drain. or a small sink, tiny hole and tiny faucet and be all good.
install a voltage gauge first... and get back with voltage at idle and while running.
could be a simple as a slipping alternator belt.

slipping belt doesnt explain the parasitic loss. it would however tell you if the alt just wasnt spinning fast enough to do any good. however there would likely be audible signs. like one squealing muther of a belt

If it was parasitic loss, the car wouldn't start after long sits, which seems to be happening "sometimes" . However it would not explain the problems while running...
So there is more to the story.
We have no idea what operating voltage is, and until we do, we're just guessing.

I'll uhhhh check out the op voltage when I get back in town on the 23rd; belt is brand-new, the alternator is good, but*I'm a messy bastard lol on a different thread, I've explained that someone mentioned the alternator itself probably isn't putting out enough power for the bigger, newer bimart battery, which WOULD explain why she hasn't passed out yet, BUT if it's back to the original battery, the alternator is good, at this point in my ownership, the only real F-ING thing I've done to her has been replace the alternator belt, which honestly wasn't that bad to begin with. Sorry about the fragged story lol so much crap, one thing after another
