lmgtfy.com/?q=water+pump+failingOn a more serious note I believe the weep hole is somewhat of a "controlled failure" mechanism? Kind of like an intentional weak point I suppose. As Stacks said (since I didn't previously know) Its to keep coolant from entering the sump. So I suppose the cause of it leaking from there is that the pump is going bad, and its going to leak regardless so it just leaks there to keep you from trashing your bearings.

great restoration thom45, i love it.
I gotta admit that i was a little afraid when you first signed in asking how to put a turbo right after buying the justy.......(i thought "oh no, another justy dead") . but now i happily eat my words, jeje... keep going man, i like that cool justy of yours. By the way, about the water pump, they tend to weep from that hole if: -the water pump pulley gets hit (maybe when taking out the engine) -starting the engine without bolting the pulley properly(this unbalances the belt pulley and ruins the bearing) -long periods of time without starting the car(at least a couple of years) -pieces of rusted stuff swimming on the coolant(hose springs or engine corrosion chunks) Good luck man! PD: great tip stacks, always wondered what that hole in the water pumps was for. (thought it was to purge air)

thanks man. well the car is comming home today or tomorrow, i am also making a trip to the junk yard today to see if i can find any parts that i need. my starter is completely dead. Wont engage at al andfor some reason my brand new solenoid has gone bad which worrys me because i think this maybe be an electrical issue.
also for some reason when i put a fully charged battery in my car my window wipers started going and would not stop even by pressing the wiper button. it never did that before, why now, why me!

make sure you take that stuff in and have it tested before you just replace it. Plenty of times guys replace whole parts when its just a lead or post thats gone bad.

Well school has come to an end for this year and i had to bring my car home. I will be working on it but not as much because i have a lack of tools. I will still keep you guys posted on the progress. Im in the process of taking the motor back out so i can deal with the water pump and im going to try to fix my broken mounts as well. I'm going to try the Guide on boat roller rubber for the top and side mounts.... Justy going home

so i came across a 4wd system and i was wondering if it is worth the trouble to put it on my '87. i noticed that there wil probably have to be modifications for the rear struts but is there anything more than just welding on the mounts?

So i ended up not buying the block or starter. I do believe the guy is still selling the motor as well as the 4wd tranny and whole rear end assembly. I've been trying for the past couple of days to get the oil seal out of my water pump but i have had no luck. I either have to pull the front cover off or just take out the whole motor which isnt to bad cause there is a lot of stuff that is disconnected. Anyone know how difficult it is to take off the front cover? Here is where my little justy now stands All my parts and tool kept neatly inside the car lol And this is where i'm stuck at with the water pump Any ideas at all on how to get this out?

when i did mine in the car i jacked the front of the engine up as far as it would go then used a long screw driver to pry it out then wen i installed it u put a large socket so it would not hit the new seal and taped it on home >that teflon seal is super fragile if you put a crack in it its game over man check with a mirrior. cuz it sucks big time when its all back together and leaks I KNOW

if you take the RH cv shaft out of the tranny you can get the water pump at or higher than the frame rail i dident when i did mine just be sure the inner joint dosent pull apart but if it dose just pull the boot off and put it back together

Good new Everyone! I finally got the old oil seal out of the water pump thanks to lowryde for the advice! Here you can see how far the water pump moved so i can get better leverage... Before After Still not to much room to work especially if you have big hands like me Once again i destroyed the seal to get it out... Thats it for today, i should have a new rebuild kit soon!
