/
;
Justy transmission swap is easy:
Replacing the ecvt transmission with a standard is easy but the axle ratio used with the standard is different so if you have a 4 wheel drive the rear end must be changed too or drive it in 2 wheel drive only.
Parts needed:
1 .standard transmission and axle assembly.
2. electric starter.
3.flywheel, pressure plate, and disc.
4.throwout bearing ,throw out lever and clutch cable.
5.peddle bracket and pedals.
6.gear shift lever and linkage
7speedometer cable and housing.
8.engine torque control bracket on top of transmission.
9.neutral start switch [mount at clutch throw-out lever] to interrupt starter control circuit until clutch is depressed.
10.small relay to mount at the shift console to run back up light lights.
Procedure:
1_Remove engine and ecvt transmission
2_remove ecvt oil pump and drive shaft for pump or you will ruin the shaft when you remove the
transmission
3_remove the electric clutch
Install
1_flywheel
2_clutch disc and pressure plate
3_install throw out bearing and lever
4_mount transmission to engine [the starter will be on the opposite side]
use the starter that matches the standard transmission
5_mount the torque bracket to the transmission
6_install engine and transmission into the chassis
Inside of car
1_ remove seats
2 remove ecvt shift control lever and switches
3_unplug all wiring
4_install standard shift lever and linkage
Remove
1_dash bezel and plastic around steering column
2_remove steering column and shaft [disconnect at “u” joint.
3_remove brake peddle and bracket.
Install
1_mount clutch peddle and brake peddle and bracket.
[Be sure the brake master cylinder push rod has free play.
2_plug in brake light switch.
3_install speedometer cable behind dash.
4_disconnect clutch temperature wire to light at lower RH side of dash.
5_install steering column.
6_install dash bezel.
Wiring for 4x4
1_Remove_RH side inner kick panel
2_lift RH side of carpet
3_run two wires [one from each solenoid valve on the 4x4vacuum valves inside engine compartment]
through the fire wall to the 4x4 switch on the shift lever. Ground the common terminal of the shift lever switch.
4_From the red test plug at the left side of the firewall in engine compartment supply both solenoid vacuum valves from the hot center terminal of the plug.
Reverse lights;
1_Cut the ten pin connector off of ECVT transmission [leave the wires long]
2_Mount a small 5-10 amp. relay on the floor behind shift lever for reverse lights.
3_Run a control wire from this relay to the reverse switch on the standard transmission.
4_Now ground the other terminal of the reverse switch to the engine.
5_At the ten pin connector, find the hot wire [ignition switch on] connect both the control terminal and the main terminal of the relay to this hot wire.
6_Connect reverse wire to other main terminal.
Neutral start switch.
1_At ten pin connector jump the pair of wires adjacent to each other that were originally connected to the neutral start switch.
2_For safety mount a normally open switch to the clutch release lever and connect the original starter solenoid wire to this “new” safety switch then connect the switch to the starter solenoid.
Ignition key removal and day running lights.
1_Yellow wire from 10 pin connector for the ECVT must be spliced to the emergency brake lever grounding switch at base of lever. This causes key switch solenoid to release ignition key when park brake is pulled.
