Hi,
I recently replace the clutch on my 88 Justy. It has gone alright for about a month, however recently the engine bay would start bouncing when not accelerating. This got worse until now sometime the gears appear to bind up. There seems to be some relation to the transmission. I have checked the clutch and it appears in good order and works well. The 4WD button can be depressed and the lights don't come on. Sometimes you can drive it short distances with no problem and then other times it binds straight away.
My thoughts are at present investigatre the 4WD vacuum system, maybe the electrics for that, but I must admit I'm not sure where to go after that.
Thanks
Dan

Great I'll try that.
What I mean by the engine bay bouncing is when your accelerating it was generally OK. Once you start cruising 40-50 km/h there was a slow vibration, maybe 1 Hz from the left front part of the car. This could be 'dealt with' to some extent by gearing up to third gear, however, eventually it would start to lock itself down so that you can not move forward, and u have to muck around with the gears ie go into reverse of 4WD on off to get it to go agian. This metyhod however does not really solve the problem.
Other possible reasons for the problem could be the front left hub which has been cronically loose since I bought the car, generally this has not been a big problem as can tighten the crown nut and replaced the bearings etc. Also the sound and vibration associated with a troublesome wheel appaer to be quite different to the current problems.
The other thing I had thought of was maybe the CV joint, althoughI think its unlikely that would cause this sort of problem.
thanks

yeh it has trouble going forwards, binds up.
The bearing issue has been ongoing ever since I bought the car over a year ago. I have been routinely tightening the castle nut.
The other things yep tires are same size, there is a problem with the 4WD lights there not working. I will try playing around with the vacuum hoses, altho I reverse them and things did not get any better.

Problem solved, turned out the CV joint I rebuilt in situ, iput the cage in backwards and that caused the bearings to bind on the circlip..
Thanks for the help anyway.
