Alright, this week is weld the rear diff weekend. We got a new place! get to move in sooner too! It's got a better work shop, still have to move in and sort that out before we start up with this car. We also have a 3 series BMW from the 80s that's getting a new exhaust first, then I'll roll the paint on the roof of the justy. I've already made and cut out the stencil for the BC flag. The RWD conversion was set months ago so that's alright as well. I should be getting the car ready over the week, you know pulling parts off and stuff. muffler today and some poking around to get an idea whats going to need to happen to get the Diff off. I've welded at two trades schools and then got a job in carpentry some how. I haven't welded in a wile and I'm stoked to get this rear end plugged up. The reason why is open Diffs are lame. Right now its got a good engine in it, a cleaned up transmission and redone brakes. (Have scrap, will take practice shots to dial in first) I think it would be prudent to get ahead of the diff. I would Love to see if there are LSDs from Subarus and Nissans that would work out, there are some BMWs LSDs I'm learning more about that might come into play. I know it'll be limited to that little carrier. We'll see, in the summer I hope to buy a proper daily to bring the Justy back in the Shop. I actually enjoyed the brakes and want to try and source a good rear disk conversion. 13" rotors and ea80 front calipers? I'm still looking at that stuff. Any one curious about this can visit my Youtube page where I remember to update stuff. I try and film or add what ever I don't find online, even if it's just some routine stuff. The goal is a Maximum Justy experience on city roads with lots rain and some rips on the dirt. This little car as it is might not last for ever, so I am collecting parts for future builds (Super/Turbo/TwinCharged? I have a spare motor kicking around...)

I have an other 4wd 5sp I feel you on the lsd. It's only time till I find one or break bit on the justy. Wet surfaces = good time. I read your thread awile back, I'm going be nice with her. But I do plan on doing a proper build later so if it breaks I bus to work any way (parking is a joke when works less than fifteen minutes away) my last justy was way worse and it held up for three years. This one admittedly is a different sort of thing I like your locker diff BTW. You should prep diffs and sell them if Justy parts are more common where your at. if it was a good deal I'd pay. Still itching to weld.

im considering to put completly different transmission - maybe form justy-swift, maybe something different the best solution would be to rotate the engine and put a BMW transmission, but its a ton of work and im not sure its worth it

I've been thinking that BMW idea because it's been done, (with a swift I think, see more internet for details) there are tons of 325e motors with LSD and a 5spd on my island. Thinking of you when I pulled and opened my diff last night

LSD is a different story. Original diff is very compact-size. it is hard (probably impossible) to put anything else there without cutting the chasis

So it's been a bit and I drove about the other day and things seem ok. so far it's been in the garage allot of the time since I bought it. This transmission has a burnt out front drive so from a donor transmission I pulled many parts I want out of there. I've got the out put gears and will be also removing the input shaft for a clutch alignment tool, (Couldn't find one last few times I pulled a justy motor. I'm hoping to buy a JDM Legacy and just keep using the justy as a project car. I'm trying to collect more parts. Until then, fresh front pistons and pads, welded diff, and I got it RWD in July 2017. I just don't beat on it (vary much.)
I have some ideas about doing some wild engine swaps at this barn near by, I'm going to get to know the situation and see what I can do with my welding papers wile they are still worth any thing. (I'm thinking a special place in a subaru where a buick motor meets an e30 gearbox.)
