So I've been having a blast rocking my justy in RWD for awile now. How ever I've been hearing noises and after changing bearings and cleaning things up I think I've got bits of the old front drive gear skipping around in there. With the car sitting right now I've been sourcing a transmission. with questions like what Years transmission works with what engine (IE: 92 engine to 89 4wd transmission)
I've also been thinking about putting locking hubs up front. has any one done this or know if say samurai hubs would be a close match? Locking hubs, because keeping the rear wheel drive.

Unless there is something different about the 1l blocks transmission... all transmission fit all blocks. The issue with the 1.2l blocks is early blocks do not have the provision for the axle extension to use equal length half shafts. So you should be good to use whatever transmission you find. Bear in mind there are some minor ratio differences... somewhere here we have a thread discussing all the different ratios. Nothing to be really concerned about. No idea on the use of locking hubs... you are heading into fab-ra-cobble territory there.

phew I'm stoked we didn't get any 999cc motors in canada (Not like I was initally told on my first justy, totally an EF12!) I found another transmission though from a forum mod here and it's compatable. I asked my friends who knows suzuki's and I think I'm out of luck finding a stock part to addapt they use a few more splines than the justys. I still have unused front axles and fresh hubs, I'll keep thinking on this one. Also the transmission came with a spare motor I might build up over the winter, did a head repair last year that went well, might go over this one and see what I can do.
