Justy Engineers!
I don't think I can any longer hear the sound of knocking or pinging while I drive. Some times I sorta feel that the engine is running a little "harshly' as I am pulling up a grade. Since this car has no built in sensor, I thought I might make one.
Like this:: Pick up a stock sensor and bolt it on to the engine. It should be, I'm guessing a peizo-electric device with a tiny signal.
I guess the next thing would be to amplify that signal . this is where the "engineers" can chime in if they want to.
It would be nice if that signal could light an LED which I would mount to the dash. It might need to be "conditioned" by a microprocessor?
The value of this little rig would be to allow me to fine tune my ignition and quit worrying about it
Possibly I have overlooked a port on the stock ECU that will accept a knock-sensor input. If anyone knows of this?, please advise?
Thanks to all.
Henry

There are aftermarket kits like this already if you dont want to reinvent the wheel.
I found some links on making your own for under 25 bucks but they use radio shack parts and they dont exist anymore
