Cause I'm a mizer geek... I never posted my solution which was to use industrial grade epoxy over the remaining "rubber stuff"... it worked not bad, but the engine only did 1000 km's or so before I blew a rod out the side, soooooo... really can't be evaluated.

For those that know about winter downhill skiing, My idea was to melt ski "P-Tex" onto it as it seems to be about the same consistency and relatively cheap.

I was thinking about puting there piece of some used tensioning guide from skoda fabia HTP (also 1,2 petrol engine and same chain just little bit longer) and some spring that will keep the chain tensioned.
