Hi, My name is Noah. I just purchased a 1993 Subaru Justy with 93000 original miles. It has a few issues that I need to fix asap, I want to daily drive this car. When I shift(Manual Trans) It feels loose, like its moving. However, I can't seem to find a transmission bushing anywhere online. Also when I'm first accelerating and sometimes when I turn and accelerate there is a loud vibration/shake/rattle noise that I can't really figure out. Would a loose transmission cause vibrations too? Where do I find parts for this dang thing ha.. It also leaks oil from the right side of the motor, where the distributor is. Is this typically a valve cover leak or is there a different gasket that leaks? Thanks in advance for the help. I hope to become a part of the community, never had a car quite as unique is this.

When the valve cover leaks it normally gets all over the exhaust manifold and smokes. Most likely the distributors o-ring has gone. When i took mine out it was so stiff it wouldnt seal anything. Replacing that o-ring should do the job. These things are notorious for leaking.

Thank you so much for the reply, I've been busy at work so I just got back on the forum. I replaced my CV axles as they were really worn and moved up and down and popped around corners. However, once I replaced those, my motor mount and tranny mounts became a serious problem. I can literally move my motor back and forth with my hand. I have decided to try the Window weld/Urethane caulk fix for now. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a thread with a walkthrough on how to remove the motor and transmission mounts without removing the engine. I know the tranny mount shouldnt be too hard, just jack up the tranny and remove the crossmember? The lower and side motor mounts are what I'm anxious about. I want to do all 3 at once so I dont have to wait weeks for the urethane to cure. Is it possible to remove them all at once and keep the motor suspended with a large jack? My father has a motorcycle/quad jack that I was thinking oof using. It about 2ft wide and 2ft long with two rectangular pads. This is the same one I think. Motorcycle lift linkAny help is appreciated, Thanks!

Also, I looked for the distributor seal online, is it the same as the camshaft seal on orielly or autozones website? Where do I find one if not? That's exactly where myy leak is coming from I think. It just runs down the driver side under the distributor where it meets the head. The valve cover also seeps oil all over my exhaust so It smells inside from the header burning it haha. I love the car but I really have to fix these mounts and leaks to enjoy it fully. I can't even engage 4wd because my mounts are so bad. The clunking is horrendous and I would hate to ruin more parts because of them.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about the mounts. No the camshaft seal is a rubber spring seal. The distributor seal is just an O-ring. Taking it off youll see dont be afraid to as it can only be installed one way and for the timing just line up the clean non gunky marks where they were before on the mating surface. Go to any auto parts store they'll have an O-ring that will fit. The valve cover will always leak unless you use some kind of sealant/gasket maker. Use an oil resistant RTV. Works fine for me months after my rebuild. As for the motor mounts i cant help you there sorry. And my Passanger CV joint rubbs against my Oil pan when i turn left heavily. Causes knocking and i dont know how to fix it besides keep on adding buffer material so i dont rub a hole all the way through my oil pan!

Well so far I've replaced the CV axles, I refilled all the motor and transmission mounts with urethane caulking (So far it's working amazing!) spark plugs, tranny fluid, oil and filter, fuel injector cleaner, tires(PITA!@ I had to roll my fenders in to fit them.) She runs great and starts right up... except I went to remove the old alternator belt because I noticed it was extremely wore and the pullies weren't straight... Turns out, im missing the bottom alternator bracket. Now I cant drive my car because I'm afraid to burn out my alternator, and more importantly... It squeeks like mad. Not even sure how I'm going to fabricate this one. Seeming as how I bought the one car, noones ever heard of.. let alone made parts for.

Unless you have the factory A/C, the lower alternator bracket is part of the front cover. There is a spacer that if missing will cause you grief. As seen here, ignore all the "other stuff"

Wow! Thank you so much! I couldn't find a picture of that to save my life! You made my week, I was afraid I wouldn't be driving for a bit. Ill see what type of spacer I can make. Once I get this done, I would like to post some pictures of my Trusty Justy, do I need to host the pictures on a website like photobucket or can I insert directly from my computer?
