Hey dudes, just finished a mpfi swap into my 88 justy. Let me just say it is AWESOME! I have a question about the ecu's out of the mpfi models though. Does anyone know if this ecu is "smart" enough to create a fuel map based on sensor feedback? Much like modern obd1 ecu's where a certain number of miles must be driven before it reaches readiness monitors and switches over and runs off the sensor feedback. Or are these ecu's just running default fuel maps? Attachments:

Your Black 88 looks really good especially with those rims, nice car that is now EFI... .. congrats on that. Tell us some more on that, did you swap in an EFI fuel tank? and in all what other components did you use?
As far as the flexibility of the ECU.. .. maybe, I do not know for sure but have observed some things over time in my 88 EFI that make me thing it is.

Yeah I found a donor car for 200 bucks! So I took out the tank, fuel lines, wiring harness, and everything associated with the intake manifold. I rebuilt the whole motor, bored out .020" over and had a head job done. The hardest part is the wiring IMO. I thinned out the harness of every thing I didn't need. I got a 4 position relay bank out of an old legacy and used it for fuel relay, fan relay, and ignition relay. My wife and I even re-upholstered the front seats! It's amateur but way better than the old beat up ones! Well have to tackle the rear one this winter.

Happen to have the stock bore written down somewhere? That would be helpful! (:

It was over a year ago that I built the motor but I'll see if I can dig it up for ya.

That... is one clean looking machine! MOAR pics! What wheels are those? They kind look like the old Ford Escort ones... No idea on the ECU learning.

Yeah, those are escort 14". I kinda want to try the 13" vw wheels though. I rub occasionally through dips. Maybe just some lower profile rubbers will do the trick. These tires are new though!
