Hey! My name's Ken and I am a Justy addict.
I just bought a 1994 bright red 5 door GL with 4wd and a 5 speed on Saturday.
A friend from the internet knew I had been looking for a Justy (4x4 5 speed only) for years, and found one with only the barest hints of rust near where he lives in Colorado. He got it for a very reasonable price and I and another friend flew out, having checked half my mechanics tool collection as baggage, pillaged a 1993 3 door in the junkyard (it's in the LKQ at 6100 N Federal Blvd in Denver, go grab everything you can before it gets scrapped!) for everything I thought might torpedo the trip if it failed, then bought a full set of engine gaskets and all fluids and hit the road. Drove 2000 miles home with only a single failure, a bad tire that had a tread separation and belt break and nearly blew out in Chicago.
Stuff we roadtripped with:
- spare engine (sorta, someone had already pillaged it before I got to it, so the timing set is basically gone...)
- spare 2wd 5 speed transmission for parts, since one of my synchros is junk I needed this anyways
- pair of tail lights
- rear struts, probably blown
- front drive hubs
- front calipers
There is a pile of parts I am looking for, I ended up not needing a lot of the above so if you see something you need, I am probably willing to trade it.
My aim is to bring mine as close to stock as possible, completely rustproof it with fluid film, undercoating, and Eastwood internal frame coating, repair all existing body damage (it has a few dings and dents) and probably turbo it at some point in the future. I'll be daily driving it 140 miles to/from work.
