Ok...now i found what we need to do. get some Bilstein inserts and fit them in to custome made tubes... for the front the golf2 insterts will work and for the rear the Porche 924 will work to... these are medium sise shaft....but i also found some big shaft insert that will work and give more tarvel. i got these Pix from John Vanlandinghamm on speciual stage...i will call him and see exacly what part # they are and how much$$$ as you can see these will fit perfect in the frunt knuckel....we mite have to bore the hole a litle ? and for the rear.....just slap the insert in to some tubes and weld some "ears" and match the holes...notjing more simple. these shock are not made for justy but you can how easy it would be to make them fit on our litle car

so i ordered some Porche 924 inserts for the rear...the shaft is 36mm....should be good enoug for the rear...i got them at 122$US plus 26$ shipping at AJ-usa.com...seam like a good deal ? total of 360 something canadian ? plus GST (but its all deductable LOL) and a very good service so far...
I also have some monster 41mm struts for the front getting built somwere in seatle ;D heheh.... should be a pretty cool set up. These should be a litle more expensive....whit the custome case and all but the inserts are pretty much the same prices as the Porche ones...
i just hope it wont be to much of a pain in the ass to get them properly valved...maybe they will be just rigth on the firts trye? in any case i dont think it can be worst then the oem setup...

Sounds very good....
Having spent all my money building the car... I think we're going to run the ome struts again for Defi... Although I just had to replace the struts in my 2nd Gen MR2... and the inserts look very interesting... I know it's not a perfect world.. but at $85 a set... I"ve got some other ideas too... including going the Bli$tien route...
Drove the car the last two days on the road... have to do the clutch for sure...
Have you skid plated your fuel tank? I'm not sure it's really needed, it's tucked up a fair way... but maybe I'll sheet it with high density plastic...

ya...at the price the oem strut cost...bilstein is a deal...i payed 170$ each for the rear oem ? and thats supose to be the dealers cost retail for like 300$!!!! so your doing défi... i will have to go say hi to you in this case... we will probably be there....its a very nice rally...the nigth stages are fun...very short but funn...full of spectator(even naked ones?) on saturday...the lac gagon is a VERY thecnical stage many driver say its the best in canada....very tite very twisty go up and down like a roller coster....crest folowd by turns like there no tomorow...many cliffs....airpin...jumps its all there baby... some otter stage are very fast..well...for the otter car.. wich are kind of boring....its like a hiway...... the gaz tank never ad any skip plate....and never got damage...i ad to replace it last year becose trying to bolt a tool case on the floor i kind of went true whit a bolt...but beside that...its pretty much trouble free...the old one ad very few kinks in it. on the neew car i will put a sheet of plastic...but thats just to look cool

do you think that Bilstien would be able to figure out what valving that we would need or what inserts would work better for our applications? Are the front and rear both easy to do? Well, Easy as in as you make it seem! ;D
Thanks.

Man.. This stuff KICKS ASS!!!!
i've got a set of the JVAB/Bilstien stuff on my RX. John did a great job. The thing jumps like a TANK and doesn't even roll in the corners.
Your gonna love it...however it might be a little stiff for the justy.

depend on what you want to do whit the car ?
a set up like that is a cheap solution for rally suspension...but it is wort alot more then the car...
To run a set up like that in rally you need to reenforce your shock tower...if not...one day you will have dampers going true your hood...that is if you rally whit the car...if its for regular driving...you dont need a set up like that...

I was looking to do rally, but I have 2wd, so I was looking to maybe do auto-x, depending on how well it handles in the dirt.

Hey, I was wondering if you could clear up which parts I need for the front struts on a '91 Sub Justy 4wd, also what modifications need to be made. I appreciate your time. I can't find any info local. Thanks Mac wmcenery@hotmail.com
