I have a 88 Carb 1.2 and am trying to diagnose why my fuel pump is not running. I tested the plug that attaches at the pump and i get 12v when i insert the key?! then you cycle the key to the on position and it drops to 0 for a second then back up to 12v. Is this correct? that it gets power when you just insert the key? the wiring diagram shows that it gets power on ignition at "On"
I was under the impression that the pump runs off Hz not a constant voltage. I was testing for Hz but got 0 then tested for V and was surprised to see 12v.
Any help on this would be great.

not sure what you mean by Hz (hertz?) but cars are all DC so i dont think you would have Hz at all unless there was some weird inverter.
anyways, if you are getting 12V to the pump and the pump does not run, the pump is simply dead or unplugged at the pump. if you remove the pump you'll see what i mean. theres a hot and ground lead that go to the pump.
also pumps themselves, less the screen are rather universal so dont be scared to grab a walbro or something if you cant find a direct replacement. just make sure its rated low enough. carbs only run 2-3psi where as FI cars run 35+
