Hello, I just bought a 1988 Subaru Justy, it's my third Subaru and by far the most unique! It's pretty clean in my opinion and runs well. It can be a bit scary to drive at higher speeds(65+mph) but hopefully will be tamed with some bigger "wider" wheels. It's 5speed 4x4 and has a rebuilt transition and clutch and so far seems to be holding up just fine! I'm looking to use it as a daily driver while somewhat restoring its stock features. Future plans: wheels (what size should I get, I would like it to be flush with the fenders) tint update radio rotors and breaks overhaul, (has anyone done a rear disk break conversion?). replace all the exterior & interior trim (anyone have suggestions in mind on where to find some?) Any suggestions on how to raise the horse power in this thing? Im open to all suggestions on performance and style mods. Attachments:

Welcome to the forums, nice Justy. About the wheels, BMW E30 bottlecaps seem to fit nice and flush on a gen2, not sure on your gen1 but it shouldn't be that different. The size is 14x6 with a +33 offset, so anything around there should be good. Running 14's is a good option because nice 13" tires are not easy to find. You'll want to run as low profile as you can on the 14's so they don't rub. I've been thinking about a rear disk swap for a long time, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. To my knowledge, nobody here has done it. For trim pieces you might have some luck here: www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.htmlOr here: www.dustysjustys.com/But be prepared to spend some good money. Otherwise you best bet is finding them used at a scrapper or on this forum. As for power, Matt has a really n/a build on a gen1. subarujusty.proboards.com/thread/2915/orange-rally-justy-returnsThis seems to be the easier and more cost effective option, but turbo builds have also been done. subarujusty.proboards.com/thread/2114-Dave

You will have some clearance issues putting 14 inch wheels on a gen 1. The gen 2 cars have larger wheel wells and different rear suspension. But it can be done for sure. My car is exactly like yours and I have early 80's VW Cabrio wheels, tho I had to get different lug nuts. Terry

How'd you find spherical seated lug nuts? Did you swap out the studs too?

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice. I seem to turn more heads with this little thing than I do with my 600 hp sti. It's been a trip driving this thing! Yesterday I registered the car and it passed with flying colors, they said they haven't seen such a clean burning car in a long time. So I feel I found a good one and I hope it lasts a while for as it's going to be my daily driver. I've got two rare(ish) cars 88' subaru justy and a 07 swp sti limited#464/800. Next I want to find a 360.

Most tire and wheel shops can order lug nuts of just about any combination.

I never thought to try that. I swapped to honda studs (12x1.5) so I could easily find spherical nuts.
OP just a heads up in case you don't know what we're talking about. If you run oem wheels off cars like vws, hondas and bmws the all have spherical lug nut seats. So you can't use standard conical justy lug nuts.
These cars are definitely head turners, I get my picture taken all the time by random people.
I'd love to see pics of your sti. I recently picked up a 04 forester xt that after 3 weeks is already lowered with a set of wheels.

My engine is a lot different now as it doesn't have that turbo kit on it anymore and will look different again as I rebuild it again here soon!
