Hi all. New to forum. Am picking up a 1989 3 door F reg Uk 4wd in two days. Mot test failed on cv boot ( got new one ready) and front near side wheel stud snapped off. Am trying to order one through Subaru Uk, can I get it elsewhere? Needed urgently to get on road. Is this easy to fit? Also have oil leak from around engine and looks like from rocket cover. Is this easy to fix? What could it be? Just the gasket. This is a great little van Justy can't wait to work on it. Have been on Dustys site , any advice I am grateful . Jamesy

Hello Jamesy.
How in gods name did you manage do break a wheel stud...? A mechanical shop might be able to help you to get a new stud.
The cover gasket is very easy to replace, just remove the air cleaner, undo the cover (4 bolts), change gasket. Reassemble in reverse order of removal.

Lug nuts can get cross threaded on, overtightened or just rusty and break when trying to take them off. It's actually really common.
The valve cover gasket is easy to replace, just remember to replace the grommets too as they work like spring washers to keep tension.
Try ebay for a stud? They should be readily available from parts stores and stuff. You will need to remove the front hub to replace the stud, is it on the same side as the torn CV boot?

open toped lugs can also get gummed up, and make them hard to remove.
i would get some rtv to put under the gasket to help keep it from leaking.

Hi. The garage and bloke who I am buying it off snapped it off... Don't really know how....Most motor factor stores can't give me the part. So am having to get it from Subaru UK. I think I have the spec and part no but need one by the 14th. Oil leak is coming from cover below filler cap. Will get a gasket if I can but again hard to find any new or old parts let alone a Justy being broken up in the UK. Any known outlets? Anyone got any thing for sale? This is a 51000 mile vehicle IMO well worth the time. Thanks for advice guys. Think I will be asking A few more Q's when I get the little van. Thanks

Thanks for replies. Got wheel studs for 5.00 for 4 from Subaru dealer overnight. Have rocker gasket on order. The car failed mot only on washer jets and rust and welding as suspected. Will be on the road next week hopefully. Thanks again Jamesy
