I am curious about all of these websites that say they have "Universal" shocks for my 1989 Subaru Justy GL 4WD. When I talked to a few of them they all stated that "Minor" modification may have to be made such a cutting and drilling. But, of course, they couldn't say exactly how much modification or that it will even be a guarantied fit. Seems strange why they would have me type in the make and model of my car, show a ton of results of universal fits and then tell me the parts wont go directly on with out making modification, and they don't even have a clue as to what modifications. JC Whiteny is a joke, at least when it comes to their sales reps.
That being said, does anyone know of any quality (not too worried about cost) aftermarket shocks that will go on my Justy?
Or any "Universal" shocks that are easily modified to fit my Justy, and if so, how to modify them.
Much appreciated.

Can you provide a link or three? Last time i saw a universal it was a cartridge and a little work was an understatement

There are no endcaps on Justy's shocks so you cannot change cartridge on them easy. But it is possible to cut them and then weld upper part with threads from an other shock. This is Justy's shock with Corolla cartridge. It's not ready yet!

So you can't change the cartridge/shock absorber without cutting the tops off, or is it a standard screw off fitting?
