Hi guys, I have a Subaru Vivio with ECVT and E/m clutch, very similar to your Justys with similar setup. I found this forum while troubleshooting drive problems with my car and I've found some of the info on here very helpful. Now I'm pretty sure I've narrowed down the issue to the clutch needing a recon. I'm in Ireland and haven't been able to find anyone who can do it for me so have decided to have a go at replacing the powder myself. I think I have found a local supplier for the powder but I want to be sure I order exactly the right type as there seem to be many variants. Using the CAS# from this thread I found this; sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/aldrich/195731 Have any of you sourced this powder for your Justy? If so can you recommend a source of carbonyl iron or advise me on whether the type I have linked is the correct type. I hope it's ok to start a new thread for this, I have taken info from a lot of the threads in the CVT section but didn't want to hijack someone elses thread with my question.

I started to dismantle my clutch to confirm that powder replacement would fix my problem and I'm glad I did. Although some of the powder has leaked, there's still alot in there. At the moment my plan is to find a powder clutch from a Nissan Micra, which should be more common in breakers yards, just to get enough powder to top up my clutch to 65g. While taking it apart I found there to be a lot of play in the bearing on the CVT input shaft. I'm convinced that this is the reason for my clutch failing. This good bearing and circlip need to be removed to access the worn one on the drive. Because of the lack of powder clutch specialists around, I'm on the lookout for someone locally who's good with bearings to replace it. It's a job I'd rather give to somebody who's used to working with bearings and has the tools to do it right than have a go myself. I hope this might help others who experience powder clutch problems and can't find anyone to recondition them. Any input or advice is very welcome and I plan to update this thread with any progress I make.

I have tried a local Subaru dealer, he says he can't get the powder. They can only source the clutch as a unit, it would cost about $3k, take 3 months to ship, and he can't guarantee it's the right one for my car. yaronkohen1, Did you say you can get the powder from Subaru? do you know a part number or how would you order it?
