My '89 Justy GL has been starting intermittently for about two years now. I thought it was the ignition switch on the column, so I put a separate 12 volt feed and a push button switch in the cab to start it with. It works pretty good that way. But I think it is getting worse all the time, so I got a new switch for it. Has anyone replaced that switch before? It looks like two screws hold the switch to the back of the key lock. Might require a bent allen head screwdriver or a tiny ratchet to do the work. It's pretty tight quarters! If anyone has done this job before, and can give any advice or things to watch out for, I will appreciate the advice.
Thanks in advance

A week later-----I found a very bad ground wire right next to the main fuses ( body to engine.) Cleaned that up, and some other ground points that were less corroded. Result is my by-pass pushbutton circuit to the starter is working again. The new ignition switch was not the solution. ( I guess I had two problems going on at once.) My final thought is that the BY signal wire from switch to solenoid is intermittently bad ( a hot jumper from the battery to solenoid will kick her right over every time! ) Guess a new wire is in order!
Oh yeah--just wanted to say the starter was "full" of carbon powder from the brushes, and the commutator was pretty rough. I threw it between centers on my WOOD LATHE and made a "dog" out of a piece of Gorilla Duct Tape. Cleaned it up with a wood turning gouge. Very slowly and carefully though. Polished up a bit with various sand papers.
"Necessity is the mother of invention..." they say.
Thanks in advance
