ok, I have an 86 GL plain old boring 2WD with points ignition and 5 speed. (yes its old, but its still going strong at 200,000 miles. (yes, its done 340,000 kms, one gentle lady owner, and 4 not so gentle ones) The intermittant wipers have packed up, instead of intermittanting, they don't work at all....working fine on lo and hi speed tho. Anybody know where the control module for these is located? I have no probs repairing electronics, but just don't want to spend hours pulling it apart looking for the control board for them.
once I find it and repair it, i'm also going to see if I can design a variable timer for them instead of the single time they have. if this mod works, and is simple enough to do, I'll post details and it might be useful for others.
thanks

Anybody know where the control module for these is located? On North American later models, it's behind the fuseblock, under the steering wheel, with a black, 6-pole connector

I don't know where the control module is, but it would be very cool if you posted a guide on constructing a variable timer.

Probably worth ruling out the switches in motor's gears before suspecting any solid state failure...

you know mine dont work worth a shit either. they some times work and some times "click" and go a third of the way up etc.
post your findings or some pics when you get a chance. id love to see this all open before i get in there with a soldering needle and reckless abandon.

the 1/3 stopping is switch contacts in the wiper motor, or the dash switch, been there, fixed that issue 12 months ago, was crud on wiper motor switches

either way i suppose im not gonna do it soon....its seattle...its raining buckets so intermittant is seldom used
