I have a '87 Justy 1.2 L carbureted. My C.E.L light comes on. I looked under the dash, and looked at the ECM's led light. It flashed the code value: 11 Ignition pulse system. I ohmed the pick up coil and read close to 1 k Ohm. I replaced it with a new one that read the same ohms as the old one. Also I have checked the ingnition coil and is in spec. the pick up coil gap is in spec. BUT the light still comes on. my spark plug wires read .857 k ohms. The car runs fine and has no driveability problems. JUST want to get it through emissions. Any Good input, I highly appreciate it

I pulled a wiring diagram of the whole ECU controlled systems and a ignition system. I researched and checked with other techs and they told me its the computer ECU not getting or registering the pick up coils on and off pulse. So in other words the computer doesnt get a signal or ignition pulse when its "knows" the car is on. I checked continuity between the wire that splices to the negative side of the coil and was OK. key on it got source voltage too. I also checked a wire for continuity from the ingnition timing unit to the computer just to be safe and it was also good and had source voltage. MY CONCLUSION is the computer is faulty and throwing a MIL light for NO reason. Also my upshit light does not work properly it stays on all shifts until i hit 5th gear. My guess a faulty computer.

** ignition coil NOT pick up coil ( 1st paragraph)

**carlosg0331** great descriptions, welcome to this forum . I believe that you are correct about the ECU being at fault. My schematic shows the switched ignition circuit (fuse#1) is also the (+) power source for those two indicator lights (CEL + up-shift), and the ECU is the logic switched ground for those indicators. -RRJ

sounds like a faulty ECU, if the cars running ok, don't panic until you can find another ecu to swap out to prove it if you can, see if you can remove the pin from the ecu plug so that wires clear of the ecu, the lights should stay off. remember the pin you have removed will be live at 12v but if it shorts to ground, it will turn the light on.
the pins usually require a needle to press the release clip on the side which allows them to slide out of the plug body. If you don't feel confident doing that, then don't worry, its just a confirming check to prove what you know.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I am still waiting to get a new ECU to install to my Justy. When I get it and see the results I will post my outcome.
