So I love my Justy, its my second one. It is amazing in the snow, I've even pulled much bigger vehicles out of the ditch with it. But, I have summer tires [and worn ones at that] on it and I want some good winter tires. I can only seem to find 175/70 R13 ones....so the question, will these fit without rubbing? I know there isn't a lot of clearance with these cars. Thanks

The rear is the only place where things get tight. I run 175/70-13's on a couple of my Justy's with no problems. Each brand fits a little different though. The one set of tires had a tendency to rub the mud flaps when the rear suspension compresses. A little trimming of the flap cured that!

Thanks. I'm looking at some Altimax Arctic's from General. I really only use my Justy in the winter, except if I need to make a parts run. My miata is much more fun to drive with the top down in the summer.

No luck. I went with some Firestone Winterforce tires, 175/70r13 and they were touching the front of the rear wheel well at ride height....so if anyone needs a set of killer snow tires, brand new, just mounted one and installed to see if they would fit....didn't clear so it came right back off....never seen any road, still have stickers. I have a set. I ended up going with some crappy all season tires, 155/70r13....almost exactly same diameter as stock but skinnier....better in the snow.

Hmmm I put the 175 70 13 altimax's on, and did have the same problem with them rubbing on the front of the rear wheel well, only on the right side though. Not the greatest fix, but a little motivation with my hammer and it didn't rub anymore.
The tires do still rub when the suspension compresses, the front right seems to be hitting the spring, mainly noticable under braking. Not much I can do about these issues, but to be honest I am enjoying the incredible performance this car has in the snow now enough that I don't care.

I have a set of Hankook IPike 175/70 R13 (they have holes for studs, but mine have none) and had two issues. 1. I needed some spacers for the rear wheels because the inside was touching the trailing arms (here's a thread that talks about this issue back in 2007 subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wheelsandtires&action=display&thread=159). I believe they are either 1/4" or 1/2" I don't remember, just had the tire guys just throw them on. 2. Needed to cut a little metal out of the rear wheel-well, towards the front. The only other problem I noticed is that my shocks/struts are pretty worn, so when the wife, our two 60lb dogs and myself were riding around and hit a big dip... I got a rubbing of the rear fenders (but only twice in a 150 mile trip, same dip). But anything less than that, no problems. They work great on the ice and snow. I paid $410 for the tires, spacers, and mounting from a local shop.

I run Yokohama IG20 175/70/13 with very low tire pressure for racing. The only place where width was a problem was the inside front of the rear wheel well. Strangely, a little hammering and they fit very nicely. There is a rare rub I hear on rare occasions of extreme bumpiness but only when in the pits heading for mock grid. Spacers...I purchased a .25" set which were very effective on the front. Didn't need for fender or well clearance, just to clear the centre hub alignment nubs which I hope to remove this summer. Although I think the extra track width makes it corner better. More testing next winter.

my spacers are made from aluminum i just cut them with aplasma cutter like a disc and took a hole saw to cut out for the hub no more rear rub

does anyone know if a 155/70r13 will fit a 4wd justy? Those should fit no problem. The people I have heard of running tires that size are mostly ice racers. Is that what you are doing?
