So I have seen some discussion on this before, just wanted to see what all of you think. Basically I bought a set of brand new snow tires that had already been mounted to a set of Honda 13" steelies, and obviously they won't fit the front hubs correctly as is. So my question is, do you guys think I need to keep the ears on the hub? I remember seeing somebody post that they just ground them down, which would really make things easier for me. However I do a fair bit of off roading with the car, which is my main worry if the lugs are taking all the force.

The best thing would be to remove the front hubs and have the ears turned down in a lathe to the correct diameter. However, I've been running aftermarket alloy wheels lug centric for several years now with zero issues. I do check the lug torque periodically just to be safe but have never noticed a problem. This could be more of an issue with a larger/heavier vehicle.

Good to know. What kind of driving do you do with your car? Anything off road, or more strenious than normal on road driving?

Mostly street driving, no serious off road adventures. In the winter months the Justy sees its share of deep snow on rough country back roads and some "through the woods" driving. None of this would probably be as stressful as pure dirt off roading but it still gets quite a workout. It gives me quite a workout at times too!
