I hope someone can give me some tips on what to do with the following problem:
Last week my motor started to miss badly (out of timing), so I tought the timing belt had missed jumped a tooth. But when I took everything apart, I found that the 1/8" thick keylock for the pulley on the crankshaft somehow got some slack and chewed about 3/8" wide in the shaft and pulley.
The Justy has 140,000 km's and the body's in rough shape so I don't really want to open up the engine. If it's possible I'd like to just patch it up somehow. I really like this little car, but lately there's always something wrong with it, so thats why I don't want to invest to much in it. I also don't want to let it go!
My guess is that the slot for the alternator pulley on the crank is alligned with the seat (or slot) for the key of the timing belt pulley. I hope someone can confirm this??? If that is the case I'll grind a slot for both keyways to meet and I'll weld a fairly long key in it, welded only at the timing pulley location so the rest of it can be broken off. This way I can be assured the key will be properly located as to not affect timing.
I will post in the wanted section for a replacement pulley.

It happened to me too, Looks like the result of an undertorqued crank bolt!! Took me a little while to figure it out, she used to sound like a diesel once in a while, then one day she'd barely start or run. I'm sure you found lots of metal dust under the belt cover, that's what tipped me off to the problem source. Exactly, at first I tought the engine was knocking, but i finally got the answer when the alternater belt would'nt stay on. I noticed how the pulley was wobbling like crazy. Then I took off the timing belt cover and noticed the timing pulley was the same.
