Hi all,
I've a EFI Engine which didn't start yesterday when it was standing two days and it was really cold (-4 C). After checking everything, I didn't find anything. Spark is firing, fuel pump running, no check engine, self test ok, fault code reading ok. When I pulled the cylinder one plug to check if it's firing, my gf was turning the ignition switch and it suddenly ran on 2 cylinders. I really don't know why. That all was yesterday.
This morning, I was starting and it came up, but ran ab bit strange. When driving, it didn't take the gas. So full throttle in 5. Gear would give 85km/h at maximum. It got warm normal and after a short rest it was running fine.
So I assume it has to do with the temperature of the engine itself. When it's warm it's running very good, bit if it's cold (-3C and lower) it's heaving problems with the gas.
Any ideas about that? What shall I check?
Thanks & Greetings, Klaus

I would think it's the ignition wires or the distributor cap that is taking in humidity.
Was it damp, snowing or raining??? Try firing it in the dark and you'll see if the wires are faulty, there will be sparks jumping out from the wires. A temporary way to resolve this is to spray WD-40 on the wires or the cap.
This happened to me and it was the distributor cap. I applied silicon on it (sealed it completly) and resolved the problem.
