Could someone help me with the location of the fuel pump and injectors relay location. I've been having problems starting the engine lately. When I turn the ignition, the fuel pump doesn't go on, unless I turn the ignition key a million times untill I hear the pump go on.
I tested the pump and it works fine. I ran a wire to the pump with a switch and I could hear it run but I guess the injectors were still not opening.
My guess is its a faulty relay or ground, but I dont know where they are located.

Does the check engine light come on when you turn on the key? It should be on until you start the engine. If it doesn't always coming on when you first turn on the key the ECM and injectors are not getting power. I suspect the main relay under the dash is going bad and therefore isn't always sending power to the pump relay and ECM.

No it doesn't always. It only comes on if the pump does come on. So I guess your right.
Could you tell me the exact location of the relay and what it looks like.
Thank You.

Well the factory manual says it's located "inside instrument panel", so is the fuel pump relay. I realize that's not much help. It's brown or has a brown connector with six wires if that helps any. I've had the dash completely out of one of my Justy's and I remember seeing a few relays on the back side near the steering column. I could do some looking and probing on my own car if needed.

I did some more digging in the factory manuals and it looks like the relay is located just above the ECM which is quite high under the dash. It may be easier to remove the gauge cluster to gain access to the relay. If your car is a 5 speed their's a small brown relay just above the hood release handle, that's NOT the relay you're after. That one is the starter/clutch interlock relay. Hope you find it easy enough. Let me know if you need more info.

Thank you JUSTY4X4! I finally got it. It was the relay, the windshield was leaking a bit this summer and the leak was exactly above the relay. When I unpluged it, it was all corroded, I cleaned it, greased the connectors and it started up right away. By the way, it is the brown one located just on top of the hood release. The only wierd thing is that the check engine light doesn't come on anymore when I turn the key. I'm not to worried since I drove it allot this weekend and it runs and starts just fine. This forum is great! Thanks again.

Hey, you're right! I unplugged that relay just above the hood release and my car quit. So that has to be the main relay. Seems strange that the factory Subaru manuals would list the wrong location for the relays. Upon further reading I did notice that the clutch interlock relay has a blue connector on it, not brown like I stated. Oh well... at least you were able to get it all figured out and working anyway. Great job and welcome to the forum!!!
