I have a Justy 90mod 1,2S 4WD 5sp.man trans. The problem is that the gearstick comes loose.
The end of the stick goes into a cup or something. Inside there is a ball that follows the movement of the stick. The problem is that the gearstick won't stay there. If I forget to press the stick down when i change gears it may come up and loose. I have cleaned it, but could not see any way to fix it so that it wil stay down there.
Anyone that know how to fix it?

The bottom end of the shifter is just like a front suspension ball joint. When it goes bad I think the only fix is to replace the whole assembly.

Last week i had to change my gearstick mounting tubing (the one between trans. and gearstick ball base) as it broke off completely. It became weak from inside rust due to a small hole just beside the gearstick mounting cup. I have an "88 4wd manual model. I changed the whole system for a slightly different and much simpler "94 model setup necessiting only small adaptation due to a different anchoring location under the driveshaft tunnel and a much simpler rubber receiving saddle for the mounting tube and cup. This parts system consist of a "unseparable" gearstick from the supporting tube and cup (when in good order) against a separable cup from the tubing in the "88 system having 2 mounting bolts under the cup. I dont know for "90 as the whole body was redesigned in "89-90. You would probably have to get another tubing-gearstick setup if you can not remove and change only the cup (and probably gearstick too anyways).
