Hi there,
I intend to fit an upper strut bar, but as most other things I think I have to fit one from another car. The only problem that I think I will find is that since we have RHD cars, just aside of the right strut mount there is a brake line in the way so I will either have to find a strut brace that will not intefier or else pass this brake line a bit lower. Has anyone fitted one - I know that the rally guys did. I also intend to fit another one at the bottom (I saw one fitted on a Toyota GT) and it's good. It is bolted to where the lower arm is pivoted. Also anyone had fitted a rear strut brace?

Ray, I did an upper bar in the front and a bar in the rear. The front was a DC Motorsports bar from a 98 Acura Integra, my buddy (A fabricator) and I made the brackets. The rear, I belive is also from a Acura Integra but, I'm not sure. As with the front, custom brackets had to be made. I bought both bars for $20.00 and saved a ton of $$. Ray, Saw your ride and it looks great! Now on the Question about the brakes. In the US from 87-94 subaru offered the DL and GL package on the Justy. Both had the 1189cc engine but, the GL from 89-94 (second gen body) included a 13" wheel package with bigger front rotors an calipers. as well as a larger master cylinder, wheel cylinders and improved DPV valveing. I parted out a 89 Justy Gl 2wd and installed the following parts on my 1st gen Justy. Front: R&L dust shields R&L Caliper Anchors R&L Calipers SP-Performance Drilled and Slotted Rotors (Pair) Goodridge Braided steel flex brake lines (Made to my specs.) (R&L) Rear: R&L Wheel Cylinders and Backing plates Goodridge Braided steel flex brake lines (R&L) Underhood: Master Cylinder DPV valve The car stops on a dime and the swap was cheap! the rotors were the most expensive part....$198.00 for the pair! (I know my wallet is still hurting!) Now...How did you lower your car?? Did you find a company out there that makes a kit? If so, Pleeeeese tell me! Lowering is my next modification but, I will only do it if I can do it right....No heated or cut coils for me! Thanks Ray, Hope this helps, Jim

Jim, First of all thanks once again for your time. By Caliper Ancors you mean that parts where the Caliper is connected to the rest of the wheel unit?
With regards to lowering, unfortunetly I had to cut down the springs. I spent a lot of time browsing the net and wrtining e-mails to companies but no one seems to have lowering springs for our car. However, I will continue browsing maybe one day I'll find and keep you informed. If you came across inform me.
What I will do in the near future, I will install a coilover kit from another car and install springs to match and I could lower/raise the car.

Ray, Yes, The caliper anchor is bolted to the steering knucle/hub assembly with 2 bolts. The anchor is the part the caliper is bolted to and slides on. It is also the part you load your anti-rattle clips and pads into. Yeah, I cut some coils for another Justy I had (Not my white 88) but, was not real happy with the ride quality. The ride hight was also a hit or miss type deal. I never could get it to where I was satisfied. (I guess I'm too picky!) I can't wait to see the pics of your car lowered I hope it will give me some ideas. Need any other info..I'll be glad to help! Jim

Ray, Car looks great! Looks like about 1" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. A bit hard to tell from the pics. I hit the salvage yard today and picked up a set of front and rear adjustable coil springs from a wrecked "rice'd out" 1990 Honda Accord. I don't know who the manufacturer is but, the springs are powder coated a deep translucent purple color....Any one know who makes um? Anyhow, I got the whole set up for $30.00 US!.....I had to pull them myself for that price..That was lots of fun with no air tools Upon inspection..I figure a small bit of strut modification, and the fronts will be no problem. The rears on the other hand, with the Justy modified strut suspension...Will require some more work. As always..I will update with info and pics as I go along. Again, Your car looks Great! Jim

Yes you were spot on in the figures. With regards to the springs you have found I have no idea. Good for you that you have the luxury in your country to find such cars wrecked. Here in the scapyards you will only find cars of more than 20 years. New wracked cars are usually bought by individuals who work on cars and then sell them as parts. Keep me informed on how you will continue with the project.
Once I read that the coilover setup can be adapted to our car at the back. I read an article on an Opel Corsa which has the rear spring apart from the strut like ours. There exists a coilover platform that sits at the bottom of the spring (in our case must be bolted to the rear lower arm, and than the springs sits on the adjustable collar.

If your looking for a rear stiffening in any the 93 honda left rear shocks and springs are the same for both rears on the justy.

Do you mean that the honda have different shocks right and left? So all I need is two left rear shock? But I think the honda setup at the back has the spring in the shock not like ours? Can you elaborate futher how this can be done. Have you done it yourself? What model of the honda are you referring to?

hey all! this is an interesting thread (im a little late on it i know) Subiejim, your justy looks the dogs boll*cks! without a doubt its cool retro! the whole lot works so well to look at regarding the Honda suspension, if they are coil overs, could you not take the spring off and the plates that hold it in place and just connect the damper? then put the spring where it normally goes? whats the difference it would make if you had the two together, would it be that much better handling? im sure if you took (or posted) a spring to a company they could do all the calculations with their equipment to work the spring rate, and calculate the required lowered spring for you? or give them the dimensions of it, with the spring rate (its been mentioned in another thread what the rate is) and just replace them. not ideal i know, but if you just wanted to change the spring thats one way i'd go about it. just a thought, and i may do some research on my next lunch

Thanks for the kind words on my Justy! It's come a long way since I got it in 1999 but, It still has a ways to go.
The whole spring thing you mentioned will work. I have considered having a set of springs made for the Justy and may very well go that way if this adjustable coilover set up I'm working on turns out not to be effective.
I'll keep everyone up to date as I go.
