My Justy is spitting pine needles at me when the blower's on. There are a ton of needles on the heater core, and some in the blower. Does all the air come in through the vents in the cowl below the windshield?
Just trying to figure out the best place to start cleaning needles from.
I'm gonna shop-vac somethin' good!

You can get a lot of the venting apart from under the dash, it comes apart pretty easy, and not too bad to get back together. To get it all apart, you probably have to pull the dash out.

I already took off the ducting between the blower and the heater core. I reached in through the opening, and with the dash lever in the heat position, I vacuumed all the needles and junk off of the heater core.
BUT, where does the system draw exterior air from? Where is the fresh air inlet to the blower? I've looked through my Factory Service Manual and all I can tell is that it's somewhere in the cowl? I guess I just need to get in there and check it out.
I can't believe how many pine needles made it in there. I'm going to add a screen on the intake to keep future crap out. Usually there's a foam "cabin filter" to keep these things cleaner, but on the justy? Is something missing?
There were so many pine needles in there it looked like something was making a nest!

its a 80s vent system, no parking below trees, or deal with needles and leafs. ;D

It's also part of the mice superhighway. Hint, if you are going to be parking your justy for a period of time, switch the lever to select air to recirculate from the interior as opposed to from the outside. This closes off a gate that bars access to little vermin (at least from that route)
