if the fan stops working, there could be some overheating issues. which pipes are you talking about protecting? if you wrapped the exhaust plumbing, that should remove a lot of the heat in the engine bay. there are also "socks" for the turbo which protect the hot side, or the compressor housing.

The radiator fan not working is normally down to the temperature switch in the right hand side of the inlet manifold (as you stand looking at the engine from the front bumper) There are 2 sensors and i always forget which is which, i think its the one with 2 wires off it. I Tried 3 2nd hand ones on mine, all of which were useless so i put a switch on the dashboard.
for protecting the tubes, you really want something reflective. aluminium Kitchen foil would work i suppose if you're on a budget. make sure you put the shiny side facing away from the pipes and it will reflect the heat.

You tried three used (unknown) sensors and when that failed you wired in a manual switch instead of just buying brand-new sensor for $12 I have to say, that is a really poor example to set. When you spend more time and as much money screwing with a perfectly good system as it would take to keep it stock and reliable, it is the beginning of the end for many a car.

have yet to find anywhere in the uk that sells a new thermo switch for a justy, last time i tried to get a distributor cap, it took the local motor factors 3 days to find one as they had all been discontinued. so a simple toggle switch and 2m of wire costs more than $12?! but anyway this wasn't the question...

Hint: Running AC forces the fan to turn on. Even if blowing lukewarm or warm air.

So, here i come back again with more anoying questions! I finally bought a R5 GTT carb and it's fuel pressure regulator. ;D But i have some difficulties with the vacuum hoses from the car to the carburetor. Here they go: 1- the piece stuck to the distributor, the hose that comes from it were does it goes to the new carburetor (R5GTT)? 2- this next piece, the hose that was going to the old carb, were it goes now? I'd really need your help to finish this! Thanks!

Thanks izimo for your answer! So the thing is, when i took off the original carb from the justy i had to take off also the antidieseling switch. When i put the new carb (R5GTT) it had no switch at all and yesterday when i put the engine running the fuel pump didn't start, so i unpluged the ecu and did direct connection and it did start. The problem is that i don't think this is a solution (make a wire direct connection to put the fuel pump working). So with the antidieseling switch of, does it stops the fuel pump? What can i do to solve this problem? Thanks

Hi people! I'm Back! I've been waiting for more posts about turbo convertions to help me with mine. Sorry i can't help more in this forum because i'm learning with you about this car. Happy new year ;D. So, I have some questions: 1- What does this box for? 2- In the next picture there are 3 pipes: one for the fuel feed, other for the fuel return, and the other, what is for? Can i use the pipe that i'm asking information to do the fuel return (with the proper changes in the connections shown in the first picture.). The stock fuel rturn line isn't enough because of the new fuel pump (3 bar). 3- the last question: This is the vacuum that controls the advance sparking. Do i have to connect it to the carb (solex 32 DIS)? Where? Hope you can help me. This Saturday is going to come a guy that will tune the carburator. I also have an IC that i will install later. Cheers.

Thanks for your answer, stacks. The fuel return line isn't enough because it's half the size of the one in the fuel regulator from solex 32 dis, and it causes the to force the carburator to give more fuel than it needs, causing the engine to run rough and not ideling correctly. So, there are two lines for the vapor seperator. If i eliminate one of them (to do the return fuel line) and leave the other one that goes from the tank to the vapor seperator in place. There shoud be no problem? Cheers

I am using the charcoal canistor hose as my fuel return with no problems for about a month so far. I had to use it since the actual return was too small for my needs, and it was easier than re-running a return to the fuel tank.
