I have 2 questions
1. Where are the timing marks on the justy flywheel.
2. What are the indicators of failing front axles? When I turn the wheel to the right really far it makes a loud clicking noise. The noise is more frequent when I am going faster. This is my first car with front axles so I'm not to familiar with this kind of stuff. I recently re-did the front bearings so I no a little bit. Please specify what parts need to be replaced and there locations. Maybe the CV-joints.

Nah, it's definitely CVs in the front if it clicks when you turn.
My honda had that happen. I jokingly said to my wife when i got the justy, heck if the cvs on this one ever go, i'll just put it in permanent 4WD and have a rear wheel drive car LOL.
Cvs aren't horribly expensive at least they weren't on the honda, they were aobut $70 per side plus labor. The justy's are a bit smaller and you may get a deal if you can find a wreckers with one...

Thanks for the info. I checked and the axles are pretty affordable. I also jokingly thought about putting it in 4 wheel drive and having rear wheel drive. ha ha. I'll post after I do the repair.

i was thinkig of this mod too id like to drive mine justy in RWD and have a button Neutral, when puting it in 2WD mode you think that it would run if you removed front axles

to find out what part of the axle/driveshaft/cv it is thats gone, grab hold of it and give it a shake. it could be the spline that goes into the gearbox rather than the wheel side of things. you CAN get the drive shat as separate bits, despite what subaru said to me. i got a complete whole new unit, which (with a 1/3rd off rrp) was £200. have a look at www.japarts.com (or.co.uk?) for an idea on prices if unsure about cv's. i think they were about £40 each. also check the steering rod ends, these are cheaper if they are the problem Dan

Well, I managed to get the repair done. The CV's were around $70 each. Did it over a weekend. The justy is up and running and seems to be fine now. It had the half shaft extension so the axles were both the same length. The drivers side was alot easier to do because everything was in a nice open space. I just bought myself a wire welder so I can fix the rattle from the exhaust. one of the old mounts is broken and vibrates against the piping. Thanks much for all the info. Very helpful. One quick question, Where are the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley?

Timing marks should be fairly obvious on the pulley, I believe there are three marks close together for timing (cylinder1) and single marks for TDC for the other two cylinders.
