I want to get some 13x7 wheels for auto-x purposes... what kind of offset would I want? (I'd like a wide stance)

im working this out quickly in my head... original is 5 inch wide, offset of 35-38 (lets say 35 as its an easier number to work with) offset is the distance off-set from the centre line of the rim right? so, if you add an inch, take an inch off the offset. so 6" wide would equal 10mm offset, 7" equals -15mm. now i look at it, that does seem a bit iffy, but i have seen wheels for sale with negative values, i think for Rwd cars mainly like Escorts and Mantas etc. you may want to get that confirmed by anyone that your buying rims off, but im 99% sure thats how its worked out. or at least thats how i did mine and they fit so nice in the stance factor. you could have a search on google or ask Geeves - hes a smart fella. 7 inch wide is pretty huge tho, they will poke out the arches alot!! you will have to post pics if you do it as well! i also think the rear could do with 3-5mm spacers, altho i dont like spacers it might be worth going for a slighly different offset for the rears to make them look like they fill the gaps. the only problem i can see happening is if you hit a bump or go hard on the corners, you will squish the tyre in the arch, and either crack/bend/stress your wing/s like mine or wear your tyres a new tread pattern... it could be worth asking the dude who has put 15x6.5's on his (maltajusty?) as he could give a better idea on what his setup is and if it works well on full lock turning hope this helps
