Has anyone ever tried upgrading to a ej motor drivetrain in a justy? is this even a possibility?

Well.....
lots of people have dreamed about it, including me... there would be alot of work and fabing involved... you would pretty much need to stip the shell, and start from scatch. In theory it is quite feasible, but things like steering rack, rad, firewall, pedal set, sub frame, front hubs, would all have to move/be changed. major job, but would yeild one hell of a car if done well! Group B rally cars of the 80's come to mind!

You get more than that 80 horses by turboeing your justy. No need for swap there. But it really would be nice to have a WRX engine up front or at the back. We gave ot a lot of thought, reversed the engine and stuff, but transmission is the hard part there.

no way to fit a wrx up front....far too many pipes and gadgets on those things! not even kiddies fingrs could get in those bays!
i just bought a rolling justy shell, should be taking delivery in the next week or two! no engine in it, so im getting one from salvage as soon as ive got the car and finished cleaning up the body and engine bay. the idea of turbo is very nice, but not certain as i know it would be best to balance the engine if im to do so, along with harder valves. bit too expensive for me though so might have to leave that dream behind for a while........(violins). also the oil pump thing bugs me, so i may put the spare money into an electric one somehow. still, my first project, first garage and will be my first engine to really get to tinker with so i am going to enjoy it rather than go for competition performance, keep her looking sweet and look after this one if shes good to me ; ). first thing i invest in when shes built is Waxoil form a profesional, so she doesnt rust so quick! saying that, theres a company i know that do bike carb manifolds and setup for about 500 smackers, which could be considerably less than the turbo process?? we'll see, gotta take delivery first!!
