if you were to do an intake on say a 93 fuel injected justy what would you need to do? i know all t he fittings would have to be custom. but i see alot of sensors and wires going into my air box and i dont want to screw anything up. what do i do?!?

I built a custom intake from a 97 Grand Am air box. The hoses that go into your factory air box are idle air bypass hoses. There should be 2. The other with wires coming out is the intake air temperature sensor. When I did my conversion I just cut out a square of about 1" by 1" where the hose fittings and the IAT sensor fit in the factory box. I then found a flat spot on the filtered air side of the new box and drilled a hole big enough to fit the IAT sensor. I then mounted the piece removed from the factory air box over the hole with a self tapping screw. Then I took a drill bit and ran it into the nipples for the hoses to cut the holes for the idle air bypass. Then I sealed the outside edge with 2 part epoxy. It worked really well and I have a K & N filter with about twice the filter surface of the stock filter. I did have to relocate the coolant bottle to the other side of the engine bay in front of the battery and remount the idle air bypass that was originally on the bottom of the factory airbox to the new mounting stud for the new box. It took a little bit of backyard engineering but it was worth it to get the extra gas milage (2-3mpg) and the little bit of extra power (very little). Don't be afraid of the stuff coming out of the stock box. The idle air just needs to be filtered and I have even heard of people mounting the IAT sensor outside of the box. It just needs to be close to the intake so it is getting a close reading to the actual air going into the engine. Hope this helps
