Hi all,
Sorry for all the big pictures!
I found a very nice looking and comfortabel chair from a Suzuki Swift Gti 1.3 TwinCam in the junk-yard.
The drivers seat in the Gti was worn out, but the passanger seat is in very good condition.
But the only problem is that the tilt level is now on the wrong side.
This procidure took me few hours!
First of all, I unscrewed the subframes at the bottom of the Gti seat and threw them away.
Here is the seat without the subframes.
In this picture, you can see that the brackets aren't paralell...and how skilled I am at math! ;D ;D
Next I had to make extra hole so that the Subaru frame could be bolted to the gti seat. I had to saw my way through! That took a long time, because I didn't had propper tools for the job. I had to do the same on the other subframe aswell.
After making these extra holes, I had to put few large nuts to even the height.
I bougth longer screws and tightened them to the frame like my life depended on them... and it does. ;D
Just from other angles
Because this is the passanger seat from the Gti the tilt level is on the wrong side!
But I removed the center compartment to operate the level.
And at last!
Now the seat is in position, there is no rattle, wiggle, just rock solid.
The major disadvantage is that the driving postistion has been raised by few centimeters/1 1/2" inch.
But I find it alright, but if you are over 180cm then you may find it uncomfortable.
Next summer, I'll maybe lower it a bit.
But now I can tackle roundabound at great speed!
I don't have to hold on to the steering wheel for my life anymore!
