Hi! So, still waiting for parts to arrive, but going to do an engine rebuild, and then get rid of all the rust and paint it. I have been thinking about turbocharging it, but not sure about that yet.. Already got a new clutch and timing belt, waiting for a new gasket set including every gasket possible, new piston rings and new bearings. Should get them this week, so then I can really get this project started. I will post some pictures as the project goes on. As you can see, its not in very good shape, but works decently: ;D

I've used that eBay gasket set on a friends car. The same model of yours and everything, in fact! And it worked great. Mine came with a lot of extra gaskets for other subarus. Some I recognized as GL/DL Wagon stuff.

Thanks! The color is called Subaru prodrive rally blue or something... Got the cylinder head from machinery, but have to wait at least 3 weeks for my head bolts, local Subaru dealer had to order them from japan or something I'll post some pictures of the head later today!

Hi Simba,
Have you checked what the gap is between the top piston ring and the ring land? If so, what is it?
Sincerely,
Doug

Very nice to see another old abused Justy on the mend. I very much like your valve cover and custom cap. Keep up your nice clean work and that Justy will be awesome! -Danimal
