Hey, I just bought a 1991 DL FWD Justy with 73K. I was researching some mods for it and I found out how hard it is to find mods for a Justy... Anyway, would a sprint/firefly/swift turbo work? Has anyone tried that?

They do work in size, but you need to fabricate an exhaust manifold for it. The rest is usual turboeing stuff. Check the junkyard turbo justy build. Google

I'm already turboed.
I'm using an IHI RBH25 turbo.
Jim: What kind of cam you running?? and good luck with the manifold. You don't have much room in there. It's tight. i have maybe 1/4" between the bumper and the turbo.

Hi all, I presume that the turbo is fitted on a fuel injected engine. Any one have fitted a turbo on a carbed engine? I think that with an SU carb this can be done (like the one used on the Metro MG Turbo), however, I am not sure if the SU will fit on our Justy or at least one needs to modify the inlet manifold. If this will not be possible I will try to fit a bigger carb cause it's not worthit to change the engine.
Keep me informed Ray

manifold under work boat4um.com/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=27[/img] no problem to get the turbo to fit in it is a carburator version, a standard carburator vill stand up to 1 bar, but a am only chargin 0.2-0.4 bar for starting. But!! it is possible that the T03 turbo is to big and vill not charge on lower rpm. Original cam, machined to 285, lift increased + 1 mm . more pictures and info coming up

Good luck. I too had a T3, but it is waaay too big. The thing will take ages to spool up, and you would be better off with a smaller turbo. Now I have a Borg Warner K16, and that too is big. Will you be using weld elbows for the manifold? I am yet to design a good exaust manifold fo my Justy. Still experimenting though...

I have got mine finally running with an EA-82 turbo. My manifold is just a stock carb manifold with a piece of 1.5" tube connecting the three cylinders together and then mounted the turbo infront ot thenumber two cylinder.

The turbos you all are choosing are too big for this little motor. Recommended turbos: IHI RHB31, RHB32, Mitsu TD-03's, Garrett T-15, T-12 or GT-15.

C230AMG, I know I'm gonna make a stupid request but, could you post the vehicles that use these turbos from the factory so the next time I hit the salvage yards or the insurance auctions I know what to look for. For instance what car uses a RHB32 ? This would be a plus for all of us who want to turbocharge our engines but, are unsure of which donor cars to source for a turbo. I wish I have a spreadsheet of these turbos but FYI, a RHB32 is off from a '87 - '89 Chevy Sprint (Ponitac Firefly in Canada) turbo model, TD-03 turbos are from Volvo S80 twin turbos, IHI RHF3's are from a Daihatsu's in Europe and Asia markets, Garrett T-15's came off from Hyundai Scoupe, GT-12 and GT-15 are aftermarket and you can get them from Garrett dealers. ok...then i don't have the RBH32...It's the next size up.
Mine is from any Subaru Turbo Engine from the 1980's
You seriously could not get a better sized turbo for the justy.
You need to remember that they make lots of compression, and compression spools up bigger turbos.

C230AMG, Thanks for the info....Here in North Carolina the cars you mentioned are even more rare around these parts than a Justy! (In NC Justys are on the endangered species list! Damn near extinct!) I actually did see a 88 Sprint turbo in the JY not too long ago....I need to see if they still have it. My luck...It's history! Thanks again...I'll be looking! No problem to fit in the Turbo charger. it is possible it is to big but a got it cheap. Car is made to drive on ice track, so it runs on high rpm all the time. the original carburator was crapp and is replased whit a biger weber.

Ken, My 88 Justy 4wd is still carbureted. (As for performance it stinks like crap with beans!!..Runs great but, not a road burner!)) My plans are to find a MPFI Justy and yank the head and induction and install it on my 88 bottom end. The toughest part of the job will be the wiring harness (I want to retain the 88 dash and guages so a straight harness swap is not possible) I am interested in your turbo but, It would "SIT" in my shop untill my swap is complete and theres no telling when that will be. If you still have it when I'm ready I'll PM you and we can do a deal. This way, if someone out there needs it to complete their car it will be available...I know they are not easy to find! Thanks for the info and heads up on the turbo, Jim quote author=C230AMG link=board=engine&thread=1101725576&start=15#1 date=1104436336]Jim: I have a IHI RHB32 from a Chevy Sprint if you are interested. I know a kid with a turbo'd justy. T25, forklift propane carb, and an intercooler. Yeah that's right turbo, propane, and an intercooler, it's literally a bomb when it's running. But it kicks ass. Oh BTW this is my first post here, how's everyone doing!
