If anyone finds out the actual power numbers of this thing, please post them. My guess is that with 7 PSI it should put out about 110-120 HP to the wheels.

Is it possible to add a turbo to a carburated Justy? I have a 1989 2WD Justy, and can't find any good ways to maximize power. I added an exhaust, but I can't find any free-flow air filters to give just a bit more power.

I have seen this done before...its pretty cool.
i just dont know if the engine will be able to take it for a long time ? did you rebuilt the engine before doing it ?
it doz make a incredible differance...the guy told me he did it sead that the 4 wheel wer spining no problem doing start on tarmack.
whit the way the exaust manifauld and Cat are...it look like a not to hard of a job...my mecanic hase been bugging me to do it since the firts day he worked on the car.
Keep us inform on how the car/engine is doing...performance problem ect...
This can make a hard to beat car on rallycross and rally sprint event.

That intercooler looks like a stock Mazda 323 GTX intercooler. I should know... I have 5 of them in my garage... and 3 GTX's and a GT

Its a shame the charge pipe is;
1) Very long 2) Black 3) The BOV is a long way away from the butterfly
be interesting to know the power figures though

I think my set-up worked out alot better than that one. quote] Yeah, but yours does have a wicked bend in the black tubing. I think that if you moved the intercooler to the emtpy space in the photo, that you could get even more power out of the turbo.

Here is what I think you should try: Reasons for setting it up this way: 1. Less bends, this will result in smoother airflow. 2. Looks like a cleaner(more pleasing to the eye) setup. 3. If you take out your right headlight, you will have a "ram air" sort of setup to cool the turbo. Or you could just run some tubing from the grill to the area right in front of the intercooler. 4. It will use about the same lenth of tubing. 5. MORE POWER!!!

That looks a lot better, but I try and get it mounted vertically, rather than horizontal, ( it will make abig difference) and insulate that black pipe. Getting the BOV as close to the butterfly will also improve the response between gear changes too.

Sideways, Thats sounds right but unfortunately it isnt, Ive seen from my own experiance the difference, going from a flat Ic to a FMIC.
In my own impreza it was worth about 20hp or about 7-10%. The main reason is, although there may be a big air scoop, a ram air effect only really works at about 180mph, although you can get slight improvements from about 90ish.
And also, behind that IC, theres a load hot engine parts, so air flow through the IC will be limited by who much air flow you can actually get through and out, past the IC.
And finally that warm air, is moving slower and therefore at a higher pressure to the air outside the car, so the air will tend to move from the engine bay outwards, rather than the other way. If you have to go with a flat IC I would strongly reccomend a spray mist system to help counteract some of the negative effects mentiond above.
I would go to say that probably the best place to put the IC is ( on europen cars anyway, as Im in the UK) is below the radiator and as close as you dare to the exhaust, wrap the exhaust in thermotec wrap, this will help the turbo, as well as decreasing engine bay temps.
The IC will have a full flow of direct air with space behind it for the air to get through and past. Then add spraymist to give even boost capability, although mines in a mini, I'll try and get some pics, wen she comes back from having some welding done.
