You may be able to do that swap or get a clutch type lsd out of a '85-'90 ea82t 4wd car. Another option would be to go with a viscous rear lsd unit out of a '91 tleg.
Anyone know what the gear ratio is on a 4wd Justy ?

Suby swamper Please don't SWAMP us with sooooo many questions....it is hard to keep up.May I suggest the search function at the top of the home page. Just reset the numbers at the bottom and it works great.

Yeah I second that. Always do a search and set the numbers of days to something like 700 days. You can find all kinds of stuff by reading old threads.

"Anyone know what the gear ratio is on a 4wd Justy ?" Rear Differencial Manual trans 4WD=3.700 ECVT 4WD =3.900 Doug Edit: And 4.10 and 4.44 factory gears bolt into those R160 cases.

Did you ever take those measurements? I have both diffs and I need to compare. Gears match at 3.7 or 3.9. I have only a 3.7 LSD, at this time. Doug

Hey Doug, You're not trying to say that the Justy has 3.70s are you? The tallest final drive gears in a manual Justy are 4.44:1 and the lowest are 5.28:1. I can't remember off hand what the automatics are but I don't think they are much taller.

The REAR differential gear ratios are indeed 3.70 or 3.90 for the ECVT. Other Subies share the same rear diff ratios but the differential housings are quite a bit different. I have a 3.70 limited slip from an '86 Turbo RX that I always wanted to retrofit into the Justy housing but it isn't an easy task. Maybe someday...

I have found this as well, 3.70 rear diff ratio (on the gen2 4WD 5speed). I am also looking to fit a R160 LSD into the rear diff casing.

From my '90 FSM 5 speed manual transmission and differential Front reduction gear-Final reduction-Gear ratio->5.285 4WD. >4.800 FWD. Rear reduction gears-Final-Gear ratio>3.70 4WD.

How can the rear-end have higher gearing than the front-end? Hell for that matter without different sized tires, how can the rear-end have any other gearing than the front-end?

It can have different gearing due to the fact that the 4WD transfer gears in the tranny change the RPM before sending it to the rear diff. Basically, the input RPM going into the rear diff is slower than the input RPM that's sent to the front diff. The right combination of ratios makes everything end up the same at the wheels.

Yeah I believe you now. I looked in my book and saw the same 3.70:1 but didn't make sense of it. Seems kinda silly to me. Or at least more complicated.
