alright, so the right front axle and hub are stripped in my 89' w/ 4WD 5 speed. I have a 90' auto w/ ECVT. Anyone know if I can swap the F/R axle and hub from the 90' to the 89'?
Thanks!

I can answer this one thanks to Matt (A fellow board member). The 90 has equal length axle shafts, the 89 does not (The right side is longer). You will need to check the engine block to see if it is drilled and tapped to accept the 3 bolts that hold the intermediate shaft and bearing hanger in place. This is the small shaft that fits between the transaxle and the right side axle shaft. If it is drilled an tapped you can just swap the parts from the 90 in, If not.... More work is required but, it can be done. The brakes and hubs are the same on both cars..No problem there. Matt..If you read this.. Did I leave anything out? Good luck, Jim

Thanks for the info. I think I'm just going to buy a new axle for the right side, since it's only $50. I'll have to grab the hub off the junkyard one, save me about $100. just put that into the drinking fund ;D

all EFI cars came with larger front brakes, and they used larger front hubs. The tranny spline is the same. however the spline in the hub is different.
When i swapped my 88 to EFI. i used the larger brakes. and i learned this fairly quickly.
