Recently just bought a 91 Subaru justy awd ecvt I was wondering what options I have for increasing the power on this bad boy I’ve read about potential Suzuki 1.6l swaps, I have seen the wrx swap, someone’s even done an EV conversion! right now I’m gearing towards maybe attempting to put a turbo on the existing EF12 or at least I believe that’s what’s currently in it my fear about increasing the power by too much is destroying the transmission but I’m not opposed to attempting a 5spd manny swap sort of just weighing my options right now.
In conclusion, what should I do with my 91 justy. trying to keep under a budget of around $5000

Hi,
The turbo plan is pretty solid, lots of folks went that route "back in the day", but usually on manual cars... Not sure if I remember and ECVT's with turbos. But you can get a fairly big butt dyno improvement with not a lot of power increase, and the nice thing is you can always turn down the boost if you can't keep your foot off the floor.
ECVT to manual swap is not a big deal, particularly if you have the aptitude to consider a 1.6l swap. A donor car would be nice, but it's wouldn't need to be perfect.
On the Suzuki 1.6 swap... often talked of, never seen one. Not saying it can't be done! Just don't remember seeing anything come to fruition.
This board is FULL of valuable info, search around. The photobucket problem exists, or lost photo links, but still lot's of good stuff!

Hi there, I had ECVT turbo, but tranny did not last long. I swaped manual, but since then few of them died. Now Ive stuck in the point of swaping some other gearbox. If you think about power increasing in by turbo, engine swap or any other way, think about swaping some other gearbox.
