I trying to tune a Weber carb for efficiency. Aem wideband instructions say to mount the O2 sensor at least 18" from the exhaust port but before the cat. I'm wondering if I can just put it where the original O2 sensor is, or do I need a custom exhaust to get an accurate reading?

it shludnt be so close due to a possibility to damage the sensor itself. according to my personal meassurments: EGT in Justy is quite high so do not put wbO2 sensor so close to the engine - that's my advise

Thanks, I think I'll look into getting some headers made.
