I think that the coil on my 1991 1.2 L manual Subaru Justy MYME II has failed - according to the breakdown guy. However my partner's car is the same (1991 1.2L manual Subaru Justy MTME II) and so I want to swap the coils from one car to other to test if it is the coil or the wiring. Car 1: Not starting. There are no part numbers on this coil. Car 2: Running fine with part number 22433KA081 CMIT-210 12V. The two parts look similar to the untrained eye.
Will I cause any damage if the parts are not interchangeable between the cars, as if they might be different. Mechanics have said that the cars are the same, but I think due to lack of replacement parts in the past, alternative parts have been added to the cars - that work, but may not matching the original ones.

Hiya, Just an update. I had to gamble, so I went ahead and bypassed the iffy coil assembly and plugged in the 2nd car coil and the non-working car started first time. Great. (Although I will get the non-working coil double checked). Now all I need is a new coil which is no longer manufactured by Subaru. The tea leaves in my last cuppa implied I would be meeting lots of strangers, so I see a trip around the wrecking yards being on the cards .....

Further update: The bypassing of the coil and it working was just a fluke. Apparently the wiring was iffy and was creating an intermittent fault. Wiring sorted and all good for me to drive it for its WOF (Warrant of Fitness), but it has failed on a bent piece of suspension (cross member) - see my newer post.
