Well, my justy has developed some nasty sounding engine noise. Its clear what cylinder is acting up, but Im not positive what it is. The old, remove a spark plug test was done and the noise was still present. Someone said it sounds like rod knock, but I thought that goes away with he spark gone. Any input is appreciated. I have had a flickering oil light prior to this. Im hoping I can just change some bearings as this will just be a weekend car. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKJme8qGoQYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=eKJme8qGoQY

so, right now Im changing out the bearings, following the "avoiding a complete rebuild" thread. It is a pretty nasty sound though so, who knows.

um,
With that loud a knock... you really need to check round on the crank and the rod journals, or you will be wasting your time.
That sounded like it was about to let loose.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Well someone's got to break the news I knew it sounded awful, but had a bit of hope. Im in a bit over my head when it comes to engine repair. I might just take it to my mechanic.
The PO changed the engine and left me with most of the parts from the previous one. Im hoping some will be salvageable for a mix and match type thing. Though, Im assuming parts wear together and mixing old parts might not be worth the time.

Yep, sorry... that's not a "light knock" at this point.
You'll still get rod knock with no spark, in fact I've heard it can be worse!? Not sure, something about the piston momentum being worse if there's no ignition.
Anyway, you might get by with bearings, but you should really be prepared to properly measure the crank. And my experience has been that the rod big ends go out of round pretty quick too, so that should be checked. Not sure it that's possible with the motor rod still in the motor, still in the car... so you're really looking at pulling it all down.
if you want to do the cheap and dirty,
pull the pan, measure the crank (that's easy with the motor in the car). If at all suspect you need to grind, and then you might as well pull it all.
