Hey guys. Wondering if I could get some tips in what may be wrong. My justy is running fine but it's a giant ice box. It'll hit -40 where I live and id like some heat in the cab.

NICE, super helpful! Bizarro NOT! First try flushing the cooling antifreeze, Then try taking the heater core out and soaking it in CLR over night, or do it in the car but hope you do not over do it and have it spring a leak. It is a pain removing the core as the dash has to come out to get the heater core out which is hidden in the heater control vent box unit thingy. MAKE SURE you remove the hoses from the heater core before removing the box... other wise there is a retainer strap that will gouge a big chunk out of the fins on the core!!! If you have the box out, take the 2 halves apart and get familiar with the air routing, there is a triangular flap underneath the core which if you ask me serves no purpose. I removed the flap off the axle shaft and then cut out the rest of the plastic which shields about 1/3 rd of the area of the core. My car heats and defrosts great now!

Biz is Biz... nuttin'but koool But no, the cardboard won't do a thing when the core is not transferring already available heat... making a bit more heat isn't going to help. clean the core, get btu's

step 1 determine if coolant is actually getting to the heater core. this car does not regulate water to the core but whether or not air passes through that core. i know this because my flapper door cable came loose and i lost heat. step 2: check the flapper door operation. you can manually operate the lever arm on the passenger side of the center console. its the off-white plastic arms. just put them in either max adjusted position and check for heat. step 3: if neither of those things are working...youre farcleed. theres only a finite amount of things that can cause this and i listed both

Mini update. The car was totally frosted over. I scraped it off and sat inside the air is at a warm enough temp to remove that foggy haze but it's not getting hot enough that I was enjoy sitting inside.still feels like cold air What does that sound like? Working but crap?

Check your thermostat, and check the heater core. Might be a bunch of funk built up over time. Don't forget, cabin-heating and engine-cooling are on the same...circuit

your temp adjusting cable might just be misadjusted. check those lever arms like i said on the pass side of the console to see what kind of position the arms are in.

Don't forget, cabin-heating and engine-cooling are on the same...circuit bizarro, they are the same but different, the cabin heat is "inside" the thermostat circuit, so the cabin sees hot water even if the rad does not (thermostat closed) however, checking for a working thermostat would be due course if you had heat once the motor was well up to temp, but not before. this would be a failed open situation. OP, do heed spongebobs advice of checking the flapper door. it could be completely disconnected (easy to happen, easy to fix) it's a wound wire clip that goes on a litte plastic dowel on the mechanism. the fact you have some heat suggests a plugged core... does the car overheat/run hot in the summer? check the flapper... then go from there.

mine actually died at the operator interface. the little "cupped-hand" shaped retaining clip keeps not retaining the cable sheath so it lets the entire thing move rather than just moving the cable inside the sheeth.

Heats been good. Never seen it overheat. The temp Guage goes to about 1/3-1/2. I'm out of a job so I may just park it like I'll park my ass over winter. Clean it up in the garage and run it next spring. It sounds like a thermostat issue to me. But it won't hurt to check all the things.
