Hi all, I've a justy in spare which I'm disassembling to get ahold of the spare parts. I'm wondering how one would remove the windshield? I already cracked it a bit as I'm such a stupid moron So any help would be appreciated .. Greetings from Germany, Klaus

if you already cracked it. there is no point in going any further.
A crack will just continue to crack..

I know that the crack will continue ... but I don't care about that. I have to remove it anyways and for rallying it'll be ok too - even with the crack.
So any ideas?

go ahead....go rip a throttle cable out of the car, and tie it to a piece of dowel. get it through the rubber crap, and put another dowel on that side.
Seriously. though..you are better to throw a brick through the bloddy thing.
NO ONE will install a cracked windshield for you. It's pointless, even if you install it yourself.
if you are going to rally the car, at the end of one stage, it'll be completely cracked.
Seriously...don't waste your time

No, a boxer will not fit in a Justy.

No scrutineer would allow a car with a cracked windscreen to start an event. Even pros break the windshield (windscreen) half the time. They are designed to go in, not to come out. That is to say, windshields are not reusable.

Armageddous, DBA's most recent post on this is like 3.5 years old... How the heck did you find it?? The Justy windshield issue with me is a very sore subject . I just had to weigh in on this. My 88 had a cracked windshield when I bought it back in late 1999 and so, in early 2000 I had it "PROFESSIONALLY" replaced by a "MASTER" glass replacement technition... Well, after two return trips and a wicked gouge in the left front corner of the cowl (Made by his very professional windshield knife) the old, now super trashed shield was out and the new shield was in. It looked reasonably decent but, I am a perfectionist... Especially with my cars so, I was none too happy! I was 36 at the time and damn near in tears as that BOOB hacked away at my baby telling me how busy he was . NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with SJ, Windshields are not meant to be removed once in and are not generally reusable. With that said, like most of you... I've tried I have worked on removing/saving 3 Justy windshields. The first two... Disasters! the last one... Success! The key is to use windshield removal wire (Can be bought at NAPA) you must start in a corner and make sure the urethane is good and hot. An August afternoon in NC is usually sufficient but, If you do one in December you better have 3 people... One on the inside, one on the outside, and one heating the urethane with a heat gun as the other two guys work the wire. Above all... PATIENCE cause once you crack it it's done! Just a side note... As far as I know, ALL Justy front windshields are urethaned into place... At least all the US built Justys I've seen. A rope-in windshield would be a dream to remove but, deadly in a rollover crash.
