Hi everybody, I need help with my 1990 Justy. There's a clicking noise the comes from the front passenger side of the car while the car is on. It seems like it is coming from either the alternator or the timing belt, but I'm not entirely sure. Some things that happen though are the car dies in idle when I first start driving after a few stops though it stays on, and acceleration is rough and a little slow. any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.

Poot, On the clicking sound, does it sound metal on metal, plastic on plastic? Does it get more frequent when you rev the engine? Hot and cold days does the same sound? The stopping could be lots of other things, from air filter, to dirty carb, weak spark, fuel pump going out...

Sorry about not getting back about the noise, life kind of came up and I got pretty busy but now I really need my car. It's come to the point where it doesn't even start anymore, it sounds like it is trying to start but isn't getting enough fuel. At first I thought it was the exhaust but tried starting it after disconnecting the pipe and it still wouldn't start so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the fuel system. I have a pressure gauge but not sure where to connect it, the car is a 1990 with efi.

You need to know if it is fuel or spark first. You can spray some starting fluid into the intake, if it starts then you can assume its fuel. Or you can pull a spark plug out and turn the engine out to see if you have a spark and what it looks like. If you have already done that sorry for wasting your time.
