I just got back from talking with the owner and also the parts man at my local Subie Dealer. Here in Calgary Alberta Canada we seem to be blessed as Subaru of Canada(which is owned by Fuji) is still providing the opportunity for us to order OEM Justy parts even though these cars have not been sold now for almost 20 years.
The owner told me that the majority of the United States Subaru Dealers are no longer able to place orders for Justy parts and some have been placing orders through Canadian dealers. He did say that some of the dealers on the East coast of the U.S. are still working for us though!
Every region/ Country is different in what kind of licensing agreement they have with Subaru/Fuji. When the Dealers are supported by a Private company that has the rights to sell parts, It is up to the individual Area and company to set policy as to how far back they will supply parts.
I know that in Australia for example, where there was never a Justy sold , they are in this kind of situation where they can't get parts for the older model cars.
My Question for everybody, especially our Non North American members is:
What happened the last time you ordered parts from a factory authorized source, If you could report what Country (If the U.S.A.- What State) How long ago, and whether or not you were able to order Factory parts?

I ordered a clutch cable and a rear hatch handle assembly last summer. I got the cable after awhile (the dealer had to get it from Japan), but they couldn't get me the handle. I ordered through: www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.htmlThey operate out of a dealer in Washington state, Chaplin's Subaru. -Dave

Placed order over the phone for Belville washer kit 2 years ago, picked up 4 days later at nearly local Suby dealer.
Have since found more local (4km) dealer, ordered and received new oil pump this past spring.
Both in "Greater Montreal", No questions, just "wow, a Gen 1 still on the road???"

I'm in Northern Calif. and my mechanic has no problem getting mechanical parts for my 1988 4WD Justy. However, body and interior parts are another matter altogether. In other words, almost impossible.
