I had another vehicle that in the oil change procedure specified to pull the fuse for the fuel pump so the engine wouldn't fire, then crank until oil pressure came up. That may have been because it had a turbo.

Thats a good idea. I will use that procedure to prime the engine.

My thunderbird turbocoupe needs to be primed because of the turbo. The manual says to disconnect the coil from the ditributor and crank the motor for about 10 seconds, then reconnect the coil and start.

This is a whole different car brothaman, remember they have a 1.2 3CYL. Gas mileage is what they have going for them when they are running good.

Yeah the spring does touh in that picture. When you install the distributor it pushes tho cam and pulley out about 1/8 inch or so and that seems to give the proper clearance.

My mistake you are talking about touching the belt. I know itis touching the cam pulley and the distributor will give the correct clearance. The actual belt is not touching the spring, that must just be the angle or quality of the picture.

Ok so in the picture I have a screw on the left side of the belt. Should I switch the two around so the spring will strech more horizontal then vertical? Get it so the spring will drop down in to the recessed area of the back cover.

Yeah I do still have the old one. I was starting to think that I had the wrong spring or somthing on there. I will compare them in a little while. The machine shop supplied me with the new belt and the tensioner.

I counted the teeth on both belts and they both came in at 89. I am happy with the belt and the way it is with the old tensioner it has a little better fitment. If you all think it looks good I will put the timing belt cover on.

My engine is supposed to be from an 88 so I think that is what it is. Do you think there will be any issues reusing the other tensioner it seems to move pretty muc the same as my other one, The used one only has about 10,000 miles on it.
As for the balance shaft seal. I dont have a hole in the back of the engine. I never removed it but the machine shop might have taken care of it for me before I got the block back. I will get some pictures tomorrow. Do you think the timing belt is looking good, can I let it fly as it is right now.

I agree with you. I just have a little concern the new one I get might have the same issues. I guess thats about all I have.
